We woke to a NY times by the door, I went down and had coffee, and then we ate breakfast in the hotel -the South Water Kitchen.
Shopped for a few items at Walgreen’s: one knows that they are in Chicago when it takes 15 minutes walking by the booze for sale until locating the chapstick!
We cabbed over to the Art Institute Chicago, we we expanded our horizons,
and ate lunch at the Terzo Piano on the third level – http://www.terzopianochicago.com/
For supper, Sharon had heard from our daughter (via Top Chef) that the restaurant of choice was the Girl and the Goat – http://www.girlandthegoat.com/.
Since we are trend setters, we wanted to eat there, but there were no reservations until May 8. Not to worry, we went straight in, I turned on the 2000 watt smile, and we were soon seated. We were talking to a threesome at the bar, and when we told then we were from Cleveland, one woman said she was from Avon Lake and Bay Village. (We live in Avon Lake, and Sharon taught at Bay High for years. ) Where in Avon Lake? On Yoder, which is the street next to ours. Small world.
It is a small plates kind of place, the food was very, very good, and a young woman next to us took a picture:
Meanwhile, back on the home front , the Tribe had a walk off win, and things were jumping at Avon Ballroom.
On Facebook, I connected with a Chicago couple we had met on a CFI cruise.
